Washington, USA: In a significant prelude to the 2024 US Presidential elections, Nikki Haley, a prominent Republican candidate, has withdrawn from the race after facing setbacks during Super Tuesday. Haley, an Indian-origin leader and former Governor of South Carolina, won only Vermont out of 15 states, prompting her decision to exit the race. The announcement is expected in Charleston, South Carolina, following a series of losses in GOP nominating contests.

Having served as the US ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018, Haley initially entered the race in February 2023. Despite her foreign policy expertise and hawkish positions on China and Russia, she faced challenges aligning with the more isolationist stance of former President Donald Trump, whom she served as UN ambassador. Despite her critiques of Trump’s leadership, she hesitated to disavow him entirely.

With Haley’s withdrawal, the stage is set for a potential faceoff between Trump and the Democratic leader, Joe Biden, who also secured victories in the GOP primary on Super Tuesday. Notably, Indian-origin entrepreneur and politician Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida and a top contender, had earlier exited the presidential race.

Trump, maintaining a lead in the Republican side, will now be a key figure in the upcoming electoral battle, setting the tone for a potential rematch against Biden. The developments mark a pivotal moment in the evolving landscape of the 2024 US Presidential elections.
